Personal Profile

I have four years’ stockroom and warehouse experience, working in one of the busiest shopping centres in the UK and one of the biggest chains of Gardens centres. Working in both stockrooms and warehouses I have always worked within a small team, and have often carried out tasks by myself. I have taken an active role in every stock take which has taken place during my employment, with a very good passing score. Working in a small team means that working to deadlines and time-scales is a crucial part of the job. I am literate, articulate, polite, and have an easy-going manner. I am quick to learn new skills, and very keen to develop my existing skills and knowledge. I hold a full, clean UK driving licence.

Employment History

Nov 2013 – Mar 2015 Paul Smith (Bicester Village) – Stockroom assistant.
As part of a small team, my main duties include: receiving deliveries, ensuring that new stock is correctly stored, as well as booking in deliveries, organising stock transfers out to other stores, stock take preparations, barcode ordering, dealing with faulty stock, and returning clearance or old stock back to the warehouse. I also assist the shop floor with replenishment of stock and dealing with customer returns or customer telephone enquiries.

The working day is fast paced. I receive deliveries on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, which consist of anywhere between 30-80 boxes which need to be booked in and put away on the day they arrive. I replenish the shop floor with stock every morning and continue to keep the shop stocked up all day. As part of my stockroom job I deal with customer telephone calls, dealing with their requests, ordering stock on their behalf, and organising exchanges or refunds for faulty items. I also have a weekly stock check, checking that items of stock are correct on the till system. Often stock is missing barcodes so it my job to locate and print off new barcodes, ensuring it is the correct barcode and is showing the correct price. I have to prioritise the daily jobs in hand, depending upon how busy the shop is. .At the end of the season I have to send any clearance stock back to the warehouse which requires a good stock knowledge.

Dec 2012 – Nov 2013 Guess UK (Bicester Village) – Sales assistant/stock controller.
My duties included taking in, and booking deliveries, sorting out the stock into the correct section of the warehouse, assisting the stock floor with stock request and replenishment, stock take preparations and assisting with customer complaints or request. As a small team of three, an average week would consist of regularly stock checks to ensure our systems were correct and up to date. Our delivery would arrive on Wednesday, and this day would be spent booking and checking-in the delivery. Thursday and Friday would be left to put the delivery away and check for any discrepancies. Whilst at Guess I often would work on the shop floor if we were short staffed or to support inexperienced temps. I became till trained and had extensive experience of dealing with, and assisting customers on the shop floor.

Mar 2011 – Dec 2012 Wyevale Garden Centre, Bicester – Warehouse Operative
Daily tasks included booking in deliveries, unloading deliveries, carrying out stock control duties, and assisting customers coming to collect bulky items from the warehouse. I also undertook in-house health and safety training sessions, and successfully completed my electronic pallet truck handling training, fork lift training and scissor lift training. Health and Safety was a high priority so I understand the importance of working in a safe manner. During my time at Wyevale, I was appointed ‘Recycling Champion’, as part of a national initiative throughout the chain to increase recycling.

I’m a regular gym goer and enjoy body building in my spare time.
